This old four inch long solid brass padlock was dug in an 1880's trash pit in downtown Savannah. The lock its self is much older that the hole it was dug from. Photo's one and two are from the front side of the lock. If you look at the key hole cover you will notice the embossing. I could take a wire brush to it so it could be readable. But I know if I did that it would take away from that dug patina look. So I will be leaving as the way I found it. Also on the same key hole cover there is the Free Masons Symbol stamped on it !!! On the back side photo's three and four you will notice another key hole cover. If you look closely at it you can make out some stamped letters on the cover. Just think.... It took TWO keys to open this lock. That means that two people had to open this padlock. Unfortunately I did not find the chest it went too. It probably contained untold wealth and riches or a map to the National Treasure !!!! LOL
