I just picked these up, on an amazing black Friday deal! A sugar bowl and creamer marked:
    "GORHAM STERLING
    909 & 910"

The creamer was $8.00 and the sugar bowl was $7.00. Awesome, cant wait to tidy them up.

Hi, BHock45. These are simply perfect. This is the type of silver I would buy for myself if I permitted myself to buy silver. One of my very favorite forms, from a fine old American firm. FABULOUS!

mikkoChristmas11...if you don't mind me asking. You have all this knowledge about silver and you don't collect it at all? Just asking...

Thank you, kind sir. No, I don't buy silver. I could never afford to buy what I like, and I never settle in art. Fine art, or nothing. That means "nothing". Even if I bought on a small scale, I fear tha my silver would come to own me! By not buying anything, I get to own everything. Might sound silly, but to an old Philosophy major it makes sense. The silver I cherish comes from my grandmother. She could have purchased sterling, but instead, she purchased silverplate and donated her funds and efforts to charities. I suppose at a garage sale, one could buy my silver wardrobe for about $35.00. That is, if I sold, which I never will - because I cherish the memory of my grandparents. Thanks for asking, BHock45! This sugar and creamer you have just found are superb! Perfect forms. Yes, if I purchased silver and saw these, I'd lunge for them. Hope your Sunday is a blessed one! Regards, miKKo

hi mikkochristmas11, thanks for answering. It takes a special kind of person to put the time and effort into ID others items and helping them, like you do me, and get "nothing" back for it. Just to let you know that your help, and others like you on this site, is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU.
