This sewing machine was my wifes grandmothers. It says manufactured by the C.A. Wood company 1903. The seriel no. is 5002720. Any information on this machine or its manufacturer will be apreciated. C.A. Wood is listed as vice president of the W.W. Wood Company, Wheeling WV. 1892. R.D. WOOD & Company, Florence NJ has some ties to C.A. Wood also. My wifes grandparents name is Hicks. I have found sewing machine patents with that name but have not found any relation. Have found advertisements for sewing machines sold by C.A.Wood under the name the high arm philadelphia singer.
I'm doing the same research you are, I would like to buy this machine It's not as old as you're machine but I'm looking too for more info on it before I buy it. I live in Ohio and this friend bought a table top model of a machine at an auction for $10.00 with the same name. I'm finding that it might be a Singer nock off? I'd hate to buy it if I can't get parts for it. I Love Sewing and old machines they're cool!
I'd like to see some more photographs of the rifle with the large patchbox. It looks like the hammer is missing, but it still looks like a very nice rifle.
