This trunk is labeled WW Winship 71 Summer St. Boston. On the back is another label Utica NY. It is 38Lx 21W 12D. I would love to find out more about this trunk and how to go about restoring it. It is in decent shape but the brass is somewhat pitted and has lots of scratches. The fabric inside is a prettyblue floral pattern and has some minor tearing at the corners. The side of the trunk has the name I.B Stone which appears may have been stickers/stenciled that fell off and removed the paint.

Hi -- nice old trunk. I have restored a lot of trunks (some on my site). This trunk is covered with a vulcanized paper which is extremely difficult to remove. (actually not worth the effort in my opinion) The best advice for this type of trunk is to give it a good cleaning and enjoy "as is".

Thanks Trunkman. I do like the 'old look' of the trunk and would just like to clean it up a bit... The brass is pretty pitted and not likely to clean up very well. It has become a toychest for my granddaughter and I have decided to leave it in the living room and just enjoy it ;)
