I really love vintage technology. Here is a great little book I picked up a while back, “Essentials of Metalworking, A Textbook For Schools and Shops”, 1934.
Those photographs of the old machinery are great, that is certainly a “man-size” steam hammer.
I am also quite fond of the belt-driven drill press.
    enjoy

Love it, the old machines were made very heavy & it made them very solid & accurate, no flexing or vibrating.
The drill press is industrial artwork.
      Thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much mustangtony & gargoylecollector. Thank you for the kind words walksoftly. I love the vintage technology stuff, and am always looking for these kinds of books.
Can you imagine listening to that steam hammer all day!

You would only listen to it for a couple of years then you would be deaf!
I have partial hearing loss from working with metal for 30+ years.
