This type of glass is still a bit of a mystery to most collectors. The finish is distinctive to Franz Welz from the mid 1920's or 30's. The texture is similar to the Iris decor from Kralik but the shine is more Mat (with fine cracks to the surface), I am calling it Satin-flashed finish. In this, the first of 8 articles you can see this marbled decor incorporated into the Satin-flashed finish. These glass pieces have a base color (white, Black, Gold and Aqua) then various colors are applied and worked with a tool in a horizontal spiral. Some pieces in this series come in unique shapes Like the first piece.

    1. White base
    2. Aqua base
    3 Golden yellow base
    4 Black base

For what it is worth, I am not of the opinion that vase #1 is by Welz. I own the vase in the link below, and I consider it to be an unknown maker. It is quite obviously the same maker.

I also feel responsible for over-reaching on satin decor (after all it’s only an acid application away from being any normal piece). There are other companies that use the same treatment I’m finding

You should really feel no responsibility at all. The overreach on satin decors was fiercely spearheaded by Alfredo in this forum when he proclaimed during his "Rückl" period, that only Rückl made them.
