This is a 9" tall by 61/2" across stoneware crock that is marked Hull on the bottom with a trademark design I have not seen on Hull before. Could this be an original piece by Hull before he started a commercial operation? Any information on where to find out more about this peice, let me know @philweber52@yahoo.com

I'm not sure that is a design made on purpose. It might of happened during firing.

The design makes a complete circle around the base more centered at the top of the design and closer to the bottom where it makes the loop. The Hull signature is located just below the loop. I quess it could be where it was set on something while firing? Are there any other ideas out there? Is there any value in it?

In my opinion it would range between $20-$50. Honestly I have yet to find one like it on the net yet. Other parts of the US they might go higher. Here if you throw a penny you are hitting Ohio pottery, but that is usually the range for marked crocks that size unless they are unusual.

I was just thinkng, What if it is an original, made by Hull himself, his hands, signed by him, not stamped, engraved, inked, etc. What I mean is, when I hold this thing, I can almost see him makeing it,sitting there at the wheel. I know, sounds weird, but it's just one of those things that come across sometimes and they are weird. So with that, if it could be proven to be an original, regardless of the "hall mark", does it still hold such shallow value.

I don't know if there is a way to tell that. Before he formed Hull he worked for Acme. I looked it up but couldn't find much about his time there. There are some great collector sites on line you could e-mail

I have tried looking up some collectors sites and have had very little luck. Any advise. Thanks

This is the place to go. They have a bulletin board. I would ask there.
