Gorgeous antique chinese silver enamel bat bracelet. The bracelet consists of detailed enamel on silver bezel set natural Tourmaline (?) cabochons. It's a rea; beauty with regard to the soft orange colored cabochons and lock. The bracelet is not marked but tested on silver. Five enameled little "bats" enameled in various blue and green nice colors. Four soft orange colored Tourmaline cabochons complete the bracelet. The length of the bracelet including lock is 17.cm/8.7 ". The largest "bat" is 1.5 x 1.6 cm and a cabochon diameter 1 cm. I suppose it's Chinese from origin?
Please can you suggest the kinds of stones because I'm not sure. And iis it indeed of Chinese origin ?
mustangtony you have almost one of the first reactions on a new item that I place on CW. Many thanks for your attentive attitude and loving!
The stones could be agathe too.
It defenitly looks chinese to me. I remembered something about the bat symbol in china and this is what I found out: The bat is a chinese symbol for good luck because the chinese word for bat sounds like 'luck for you'.
You rarely find one bat, they often use two or five bats.
In your bracelet there are five bats: five bats “wu3 fu2” ?? means Five Fortunes referring to: Good Luck, Prosperity, Wealth, Happiness, Longevity.
Newtimes what a wide and clear explanation and what a trouble you have for this extended response. Very enlightening, thank you very much for that!
Vetraio50 thanks for loving
ok agram.m -- i am going to sling a guess on those stones based on what is in my goodie box -- they remind me of the stones on an antique butterscotch amber necklace i picked up in Romania in the 90s -- the butterscotch amber does not always have the biological inclusions we typically think of when amber comes to mind but the striations are often common that i see in one of your cabachons -- ok -- that's my story and i'm sticken to it
either way it is a beauty -- very interesting on the info shared by Newtimes -- kudos on that one
epson233 also thanks for this comment and also here you could be right. The stones are either Agathe or butterscotch amber. i could prove the last but I' afraid to get some damage. Thanking again for this comment!
Bratdjj thanks for your nice words .I'a awaiting your news here on CW with your other jewelry neither vintage or fine there beautiful pieces on each site. I' only looking what I like and my special interest are Micro Mosaic jewels.
