One of the fun things for me collecting shakers is finding something I never saw before. The piece that this article is about is no exception for sure.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you, it’s not a trick or mirror image. This shaker is a reverse swirl tall mould with the opalescent swirls going in the same direction and the molded swirls in the glass! I pictured it next to a typical reverse swirl tall shaker to give it a most unusual comparison.

When I spotted this shaker on ebay and realized what it was I quickly bought this piece at the “Buy it Now’ price. I could not wait to get it to put the two pieces side by side for comparison. I love the unusual, odd colors, shapes and maybe even mistakes, so I was naturally attracted to it.

Sometimes I think that a glass maker experiments to see what can me made differently and it does not look right may be rejected or maybe making something for themselves that is just a little different.

Was this piece a one off or are there others out there? Does anyone else have one? I would love to know if anyone does and would love to hear from you.

don't know really how rare a ribbed reverse swirl shaker may be but here is a link with other similarly designed shakers: http://www.antiquesaltshakers2.com/opalescentreverseswirl.html
interesting optics when photographed side by side

Thankd for the comment. The one on the right is not too hard to find and is a typical Reverse Swirl, Tall shaker.
The one on the left is the same mould with the raised swirl but the opal swirls are going in the same direction instead of the reverse direction.
      Never seen on before.
The website you posted is the shaker club site and I have several pieces posted on the site.
      Thanks again!
