This lovely little ring is a mystery to me. I got it in a pile of old junk jewellery but I have always loved its delicate and well make qualities.
Any Ideas? the metal appears to be silver? Stone is an aqua green colour and faceted on both sides of the stone. The delicate designs on the shank of the ring going up to the bezel are fleur des lis which maybe is made in France? There are no jewellers marks on the ring.
I would be very interested in knowing its history/origin. Thanks from everyone out there who are jewellery buffs like myself..blingiton1948

Looking at the scratches, the 'stone' seems glass to me. But I'm no expert.

Wow! so beautiful! This looks like an emerald to me, a very clear one which would make it valuable. Emeralds are in the mineral 'beryl' family which is soft and easy to scratch. Lucky find!

Thank you amykathleen66..maybe I should have it appraised just to be sure..appreciate your comments..blingiton1948

Did you have it appraised? This ring is so pretty - I'd love to hear what you found out about it!

Hello Cosmicdeath..no I didn't have it appraised. It sits in a pile of junk jewellery. I think newtimes may be correct in that it is glass, however, its an old setting. I really like it too..blingiton1948

Moonstonelover 21 are you out there? I need your expertise on how old this setting may be?..cosmicdeath commented today so I pulled it out again and had another look at it. Shines up like silver, but no marks, dulls again in few days and I tested the stone comes up slightly higher than glass to tourmaline rating?..do you have any idea how old by looking at the setting?
      thanks blingiton1948

Why can't an old object still be wonderful, even if it turnes out to be glass? I think it can still be interesting because it's from an era long ago and holds a history. It looks great! I would not put amongst a pile of junk ;-)

I love it. I have a few that are similar in different colors. Mine are glass and colored quartz (or something). Late 20s early 30s or beyond. The metals varied on these

Thank you Elisabethan & Amberrose: Its quite lovely, dainty. And I guess glass, but the metalwork is so intricate. Much loved at the original time it was purchased and still so..thanks again. Blingiton1948
