      I don't know what it is either, but I have the exact same one. I was trying to research it myself when I came accross yours. Just found it in my grandfathers garage. The bottle has a wick and what smells like kerosene in it.

      Thank you for your input.

      This one has a wick as well but you can tell its never been used so there is no smell.

      I suspect it may be some kind og shaving apparatus.

      If you learn more please let me know and I will do the same.

      I have one in its original box, which says: "Sterilizer M.D. Supply Cat. No. 99515 Purchase Order No. M.D. 0858 H.M. Schick Products Co. San Francisco."

      Hmmm....if it says Sterilizer, it may be a hypodermic needle sterilizer used in a physicians office.
      Believe it or not, before the days of disposable everything related to medical care, things were simply cleaned and reused.
      With the round bottom bin at the top, that would make it easy to retrieve the needles once they were heat sterilized. Ready for the next patient!
