    I know it's been in the same cabinet for at least 60 years, maybe much longer.
    The design and color are like nothing I've ever seen before.
    Someone said maybe carnival glass?
    nice size...6 to 8 inches across and 4-6 inches high

      the pattern for your covered butter dish is called Aztec and is a reproduction made by Kemple Glass around the 1950s. This EAPG pattern was originally made in crystal (clear glass) by McKee Glass around 1894. Kemple acquired many McKee molds and reproduced items in various colors.

      Laureniscontent..that's what I noticed about it..have never seen anything like it but I can't find a mark on the bottom...according to the info I found, I should be able to find a K on bottom

      McKee's Aztec was introduced after 1900--I believe it was 1903 (can't recall right now, but definitely post-1900). Kamm erroneously dated the Tec patterns to 1894.

      very pretty -- disperses the light nicely -- doubt that it is wheatons all though they did do quite a bit of avon's red glass line at their new jersey plant -- usually wheaton had the mold number so they could trouble shoot which machine was having problems -- don't see any on this lovely piece -- appears to be a fairly new mold as the lines are still very sharp and clear

      Old moulds can be "refreshed" so to speak by a competent mould maker. I don't have an old Aztec butter dish to compare this to, but it's possible this may have been made from an original McKee mould, even though it has such crisp moulding.
      Many of the 'tec' patterns were reproduced in color. Some still have the old "Pres Cut" trademark on them. Many people think they are old if they have that mark, but that is not the case.

      thanks to everyone for all your comments...my 94-year old friend passed away & left this mold to me....she would be so glad to hear all your comments on her beautiful mold she kept all those years
