I guess the person who owned this helmet had 2 jobs, first a fireman & second a fire guard. The helmet being white maybe he was of some rank?
The helmet like most helmets used on the home front in the early stages was painted factory finish in shiny green, then over painted white. Inside on the brim is stamped H.G.C. A.R.P. DEPT, The shell is dated 39 & made by F&L, the Mk1 liner 1938 & made by VERO is a size 7 although painted inside is 6 3/4.
