I bought this tiny decanter for my own appreciation :D meaning it probably is a bad investment because it has been through a lot in its lifetime. I think it has been repaired more than once, but what an eye candy... when I saw it for the first time it just blew my mind :D you rarely see this type of cameo, but on a doughnut decanter? I'm not that long into glass... but I have seen a lot of it, I don't remember seeing something like this before. I don't know how those ripples were made, I don't think acid etching could be that precise... (there are 3-4 ripples for 2mm)
Simply stunning!
Very nice. that kind of background is seen from a few makers. not necessarily the waves like that. there are leaves and stipples and other things. Baccarat st louis Harrach and Riedel are the gallery here. I haven't seen a donut shape with that kind of cameo either. it's gorgeous. too bad about the damage. that foot looks seriously off center!
I love it though. for the right price I'd have snagged it too.
my first thought when I see this kind of thing is baccarat.
thank You friends :D
yes Greatsnowyowl, the bottom seems improvised, the foot is glued on and I am not sure if it is original one, the base of the doughnut is ground flat and then foot glued on... I think it is from two separate repairs, I suppose the original foot design was taller and more elegant.
for me the doughnut itself is the main part of the item and it seems to be good, so I enjoy it for what it is :D if it was in original condition I think it would cost at least an order more than I paid for it.
it came to me from France so it very well could be Baccarat.
Hi It probably St. Louis . I have the same acid etched decoration on 3 shades .
see my old post and you find it . Few days a go some one sold a similar item on eBay France ... but have the arm glued . (Numéro de l'objet : 150954963489)
