Captain Marvel dime collector. Apparently the idea was a kid would put a dime in and when he have saved $5.00 there was a release to get the money out.
Inherited the item and don't know anything about it. My guess is that it was from the 1950s and I can actually see some dimes inside of it. Looks like it had some "mechanical" parts, as if you add a dime and something would spin to change the date and how much you saved. It's a bit rusty now and the mechanism doesn't seem to work.
I love history and am fascinated by personal collectibles. Just looking for any background on it or things like it. Maybe someone had something like this growing up, maybe it sparks a memory.
I'm with AR8Jason the coin's could be silver at the cost of silver today nice. And the best thing is it's Magic!!!
These little machines are becoming more and more collectable. if you tried to buy it, it would cost you around 50 bucks at the very least. These more obscure characters are more valuable.
