I acquired this pocket watch and I can't seem to find out to much history. It is in a gold tone hunter case with 2 covers on the back where the works are and 1 in the front. . All 3 covers are marked by serial #7162790. The inner back case is marked Windsor Guaranteed 20 years B.W.C.Co. The outer case is beautifully engraved. The works are marked American Waltham Watch Co. with a serial #11614041 and it also says safety pinion. The works are also beautifully engraved. Some of my research has shown that this watch was made sometime between 1885 and 1905. The history I would love to know has to do with the dial. It is enamel that is marked Elgin Nat'l Watch Co. with a beautiful portrait of a long ago women. It appears as if the portrait was painted on before final production because the roman numerals and markers mark are on top of the portrait. Does anyone have any info about this or where I can find more info.?
    Thanks

Thanks so much for your response to my post. I keep wondering if the photo is some ones family member. I know nothing about pocket watches. Do you think there is some more info in a book or something? Thanks again

Hi Dave: thanks for you interest and response. I looked at the links and it sure seems like maybe it could be a dial that is not seen to many examples. Thanks again

      Hi,
I have seen these dials before where it looks as if the picture is part of the dial. Most of the ones that I have seen are pictures of women and possibly done by a loving husband etc. It adds to the provenance of the watch and is priceless.
