There is a mark on the bottom I can't read, as well as "Pat. Appld For". There is a wind-up mechanism on the back.

My parents have had this clock for many years. It was my father's mother's before that. Can anyone tell me more about it?

Boy, you folks are killing me tonight! I don't think this is an alarm clock. Looks like a timepiece with a wind-up and time-set control on the back.

If there are no markings on the movement itself, I think you'll just have to hope someone will recognize the case/decorations. Like you, I can't even make out what the mark below "Pat Appld For" reads or represents.

      Good luck. Very interesting case.

Thank you, Bruce99. All of my description can be taken less than literally, since I don't know the distinctions. It's 4 inches tall, if that helps.

I have yet to open it because I know so little about clocks. I will do so soon and post another photo if I see any markings.

I wasn't much help but you're welcome NoClue. :) I'll watch for any additional photo(s).
