I am trying to figure out what this is and am stumped! It is made of wood, and you can adjust it in the back, it has coated elastic bands running down each side on the front. It is marked: Better Sleep Inc. New Providence, New Jersey 07974 US Patent D190,806 3,041,637 3,121,884 Others Pend Made in the USA.
Someone suggested that it was to put a book in, to keep the pages open and read in bed. I tested it, and it will not hold a book. If anyone could help me figure out what this is I would really appreciate it!!
I don't know how big that one is but! I found where they made portable head rests and back rests. I wish I could post a picture, but here is an auction for the back rest.

Thank you so very much! I was also able to do a patent search and found out it is indeed a back rest! I didn't think that it was strong enough to hold someone for a back rest as the wood is thin. But it is exactly like the one shown in the picture that you sent me the link for. I really appreciate your help, thanks again!!
