This big ewer was part of a wash set. (I don't know the English word for Lampetstel). That would be on a cupboard by the bed together with a soap dish, a comb tray, a wash bowl and a bed pan.
Designed by Chris van der Hoef for Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland Gouda.
He is one of the biggest Dutch designers in pottery in the early 1900's with an extremely big repertoire.
He designed for almost all potteries in Holland and the didn't stop there. Nearly in all materials there is work with his name on it.
I love the strong and simple decorations. It's called 1900.
another nice fine for you -- simple yet very classy
Thank you both Bellin & epson.
Thanks Bellin. Why's that?
Haha, I think you need some more coffee Sean.
Ok, thanks. Not too much left indeed and often damaged. This probably is not the most desirable item though. I'd prefer a nice coffeepot or teapot.
Haha. Don't be. I'm getting used to it :-)
And Thanks.
Lampetstel is probably 'washstand set'. Really nice piece JK!
Thank you Kev, that sounds better yes. And Thanks.
Wow!!! This cannot be more simple and more beautiful!!!
Thanks austrohungaro. You're right. And more=less.
