thought i would share arlene with you -- she's a 1951 model -- and as with all good machines -- she had to have a name so christened her "arlene" after her former owner -- pic 2 is what can be done to a case that has severe damage to the outer material covering -- it was a goner -- so pulled it all off -- sanded it -- stained it and place on singer decals -- at least i know which one is mine at the quilting classes -- pic 3 is an insert that the singer company use to make to be removed and taken to the sewing table -- couldn't find one so made my own -- pic 4 is my next one to refurbish -- she's a 1948 singer 221 featherweight with the Egyptian scroll plate --

First thing, Very nice job on the refurbish, looks great.
You ask where I find my timepieces, well some of us here joke around about the number of watches I have, I've been collecting (hording) "Character" time pieces since 1969 and have gathered around 4000 or so. hard to get a close count, but between 4000-4500 somewhere. Garage sales are pretty good and estate sale are usually a great source . #1 source for something I don't have is "Flee-Bay", watching something all the time, seems like. Enough rambling, have a great day.

BTW, what's your name, like using them. :-)

Autumn, you're very welcome.Have to head out and work up some firewood, hillbilly heat source, to old to do it, but to stubborn to pay the gas man.

Break time, Would try them, works pretty well in the outdoor fires, but thinking "earth-contact" home, might have a little problem with escape smoke lingering in the living room. Besides have about 15 cord of honey locust and ash logs stacked at the end of garage, all I have to do is work it up and split it.

that is one thing i miss about nebraska -- those howling winds during the winter months and to have the fire place stoked to the max -- have a fire place in this home in vancouver, wa -- but it's pretty much a joke -- for looks only -- would cost more to build a fire in it that to pay the gas bill -- too much heat loss through the chimmey and very few bricks around to heat up and save the warmth once the fire dies for the evening -- as my first husband drove for consolidated freightways and was gone during the week -- i learned how to use a chain saw real fast -- would cut the sugar maples in the shelter belt during the summer and chop during the winter -- good way to stay fit and trim

What part of Neb? Family on Mother side came from Neb. Minden and Ainsworth area. The little church located in "Pioneer Village" was my Grandfather's first preaching position, long before being moved to it's present location

i was raised in kenesaw nebraska (just down highway 6 from Minden) from the age of 10 -- raised my family in lincoln and did my student teaching in alliance nebraska -- received my BS degree from Chadron State College and the MS from Univ of Nebraska -- go cornhuskers -- my daughter teaches in ashland and i have two grand daughters there -- love my nebraska -- she can be wickedly harsh yet very loving -- during the summer we take the motorhome and visit the family -- mom is still alive a kicking quite well at 90 in kenesaw
