I have found the PFLEUGER Reels to be among the most dependable and least problematic od the 81 reels I OWN
THEY keep their value and seem to a nitch both for collectors and Fishermen who want to be different ...........
IF you have an empty box cardboard that was home to any new Pfleuger product made before 1960 It could be more valuable that the Product that came in that BOX!!!
FISHING REEL "PFLEUGER PAKRON #3180"
EXCELLENT SHAPE WITH STRING in good condition, ITEM WEIGHS about 8.9 lbs.
THIS IS a LARGE REEL
5.4 inch across /1 and 3/4 thick / circumference 18 inches/ plus the reel knobs which are each as big around as A USA 1/2 dollar and 2 1/4 inch high made of HARD wood
Designed for large trout , Salmon and even MARLIN big GAME fish The Pakron reel design is a direct-drive between the reel handle and the spool (knuckle buster). The drag washer is between the left plate and the spool. To let the drag do it's job of protecting the line, you have to let go of the crank to let the fish run. OF COURSE FOR the "PUREST" the line strength goes no more than 22 Pound test if that . depending on how much you think you can do.
HERE is the FUN PART :
YOU MAY LOOK IT UP ON ANY SITE YOU WISH ......
BUT NO ONE actually HAS ONE
Most have not had one in many months ,
Even though they say "come here we have it and cheap."
THEN comes the 9 ft 6 inch bamboo rod
A VINTAGE 1952 MONAIGUE Bamboo Rod made for the reel IS between $125 and $200
IF YOU REALLY WANT to find THE PARTICULAR ROD , IT is ALSO rare
(though not nearly as rare as the:
FLY FISHING REEL "PFLEUGER PAKRON #3180" "
I WENT to 23 sites and found ONLY ONE reel it has a $500 Estimate without the Fishing line ,but does not go on sale for several months. and there is very little about the workings of the reel or any description other than several photos.. good luck finding this one...
I have one in very good condition that I intend to sell.
I also have old duck decoys to put up for auction.
Will take photos if ok with you as soon as you confirm your interest
Regards from Quebec, Canada
