This is a late 1800s child's trunk -- what is so unusual with this trunk is the two hasps -- they are turtles -- the manufacturer of this trunk was located in South Carolina -- the hasps are original and did go with this trunk per the patent numbers found -- the hasps were not altered nor added -- we have never seen one since -- either in the markets or in any of the literature and research data -- Ted and I stripped it down and re did the outside and inside -- this trunk was given to my first grand daughter -- Shea Autumn -- the lock has been disarmed so Shea or little sister could not get locked inside -- hide and seek from mommy is a big game with those two
thanks sean -- hope your day went well -- fine here -- just wet & cold -- thanks for loving and commenting on her
thanks mustangtony & officialfuel for the loves
The trunk is great. Love the turtles. The fabric colors are bold yet sedates. It blends the past and present perfectly.

I would like to know if it is possible to have something as unique as those turtles reproduced. Who does that kind of work? Those are great!
well those are not reproductions and you can always find some of the turtles on ebay -- but they will not work -- waste of time & effort -- how are you coming with your lithographs
if you would like to get in touch with me on the lithographs or other restoration work you can do the following and please delete this message after you read it

Thanks I will email. The litho came off but not in one piece. Note, to self, when you think it will come off, give it another treatment before you pull...even a little. I have given it to a friend who is an artist and willing to try to piece it together and fill in the damaged spots. We'll see.
hi betsy
does not matter on the info if you can not delete
