Almost certain this is ivory. Beautiful hand painted European scene in the middle. I can tell by the edges on the back-side of the blades that it is hand cut/filed. Must see to appreciate.
As usual, not category to place it in & still having trouble spelling category in Americanese.
One thing I noticed when I folded it up was that where it was painted with the scene, it dished slightly back. Does that help?
If you are referring to the dark on the tips, that is painted. Just looked at it closely and the colour is even from end to hinge. If I do the hot pin test, celluloid would melt?
hi blunderbuss -- i am going to guess celluloid -- 1920s -- here is a good website to check it out -- hugs -- autumn

I have done a really close inspection. I now think celluloid based on the all too perfect repetition of the design of the cut thru parts. Any person who could be that good would be working in their country's mint.
blunderbuss -- check out that website i left you up above -- and put this baby to bed
epson, I ck'd it out & think it has been put to bed.
oh goodie goodie -- now i can rest in peace with this dang cold i caught -- gave up on the box of kleenex an stuck a roll of toilet paper in my pocket and hooked myself up -- most foul mood i am in today -- forgive my bluntness on the baby comment -- but sure you are use to me by now
Not to worry Ep. I've got an even disposition, always bad. I know happy New Year doesn't sound good to you now, but try it.
Blunderbuss, did your re-examination confirm that this is hand painted? I love the painted element!!! Please don't use this for target practice, sir. : )
miK---, I just took a good look & it & it looks like it is applied like a decal. Oops. If you are interested in it, need to act. Out-back Andy is supposed to take this stuff to AussieLand & sell all this stuff in a few days.
Oh, thank you very much, blunderbuss! You are too good, sir! Scandi saw this and found it very beautiful. That's how I came to seek it out - had to see for myself. Best wishes for a blessed and joyous 2013!!! : )
