Early Kralik cameo pieces are very rare and hard to buy because they seem to be made by hand grinding and therefore vary greatly in quality. These date from the early part of the 20th century before Czechoslovakia was a country. They are the only kralik glass actually marked "kralik" or sometimes "De Kralik". I know little else about them other than they belong in a group because of the inconsistent quality, nouveau shapes, satin finish and marbled base color.
p.s. #3 is an interesting technique variant where the casing glass is exposed in the design rather than the background, also the edges are lined in enamel. Please send pics if you have them or let me know who owns these so i can thank you (first one is mine).
I was surprised to see that Harrach did a nearly identical Cameo to these. there were examples in the harrach depository.
especially the first one pictured.
Warren owns the ones in the second photo. at one point the bowl type piece was mine :)
the bowl type piece I don't think is actually two colors. I think it was like acid cut back adn then stained.
these are all beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you, they may be blanks that harrach produced, but this first one is signed Kralik
not saying I thought it was Harrach. I was just saying that Harrach made a very similar product. There might actually be a lot of Kralik/Harrach fusion. One of the Kralik Family was the director at Harrach for a number of years.
