Hi,
I found this in a box left from our estate. It looks unused, No marks on it Except Le Creuset on the lid and Knob and the Word France on the inside of the lid. Anyone ever seen one like this? Lid is 7 3/4 inches in each of the triangle like directions. Lid is 1-3/4 Inches deep on inside, stands 2 inches tall on outside. Kettle or dutch oven or whatever is 7-1/2" across opening, 9-1/4 inches from handle to handle tip 5 inches deep. circumference is 23 inches at the top and tapers down to 18 Inches at the bottom. Pot stands 4-1/2" inches high. Holds two quarts of water.. Thanks for any information.. Jeff
They do have a heart-shaped pot in their current range. It's an "I love you" special occasion pot and has been part of the range since 1925.
Fanciful and organic!
But maybe this is a pumpkin pot?
No. Maybe not that one either.
There's an aubergine shaped one too!
Whatever! It's great!
Le Creuset Cast Iron Apple Cocotte (Cherry) I FINALLY FOUND IT.. Only difference is this seems to be in the flame color ( Orange red on top and then blends into a brown red as it tapers down ) I so appreciate it.. I been looking or days, as soon as you said apple, I found one picture only!!! Interesting what I found in the dictionary though; I think this is the first definition though....:}
cocotte [k???k?t k?- (French) k?k?t] noun
1. (Cookery) a small fireproof dish in which individual portions of food are cooked and served
2. a prostitute or promiscuous woman
IT has a very interesting feature I had not noticed till handling it again. Two indentations on one side that I see from other pictures I am beginning to find are intentional. Probably when the Iron was rolled they needed these for some reason. At first I thought it had been dropped.. Thank you so much Mustang.. Jeff
