One dealer at the Big Flea market today had a nice selection of Czech glass, all from the same estate. It was tempting to just buy it all! But I couldn't, so I chose this one for its wonderful color combo, condition, and affordable price. The flower frog is actually borrowed from another vase. :)
I have at least two vases that would have had flower frogs. Is there any way to replace them? Is anyone making replacements? Or do you know of anyone who sells old ones? Thank you for any information you have both the time and inclination to share.
Sincerely,
Lisa
Lisa - I think the best you can hope for is that an old one comes up on eBay or find a really cheap vase that already has one. I don't know of anyone that is making them in large numbers. I have seen them custom made by silversmiths that would probably cost an arm and a leg compared to these old mass-produced ones made from cheap metal.
Thank you very much. I will just measure my vases and add the flower frogs to my trolling lists for ebay etc. ;o) The harder you look the luckier you can get. :o) I know I had some vases with metal frogs that were just nothing much pottery but I checked them and they don't fit. It is just the kind of thing that might show up in the charity shops too. If anyone else has a size they are searching let me know. It is as easy to hunt for three or four than it is to search for two.
Sincerely,
Lisa
Were Art glass and Pottery vases equipped with different size Brass flower frogs? I've been looking for an Art Glass vase that I could use this brass frog on but maybe it belongs on a Pottery vase. The one I have has a 1" rim and measures 4" in diameter with a Quatrefoil leaf design . Any ideas? LOU
cool color, i have not seen it. here are maybe some relatives?
