Wall Hanging made from the side of a genuine Antique Cast Iron Sewing Machine Stand. “Household” brand name. circa 1873-1906. The wall hanging measures approx. 17 inches wide x 28 inches tall.

Between 1873 to 1884, the Providence Tool Company of Providence, Rhode Island, manufactured “Household” brand sewing machines. In 1885, the company relocated to Dayton, Ohio and became the Household Sewing Machine Company. The company continued to manufacture sewing machines at its new location until going out of business in 1906.

Comparatively few of these machines were made, as the company never obtained large contracts, so it is unusual to come across “Household” brand pieces.
