This one had been a bit of a mystery. I have seen few others in this decor. Last year I found one that matched a form in the Loetz band II book, and it listed "Zickzackoptisch" in the decors, obviously referring to the zigzag silver stripes on the sides. This one has the acid-etched oval "Czecho-Slovakia" mark, which puts the production date post-1918. A large piece, it measures 6 3/8" high by 7 1/4" wide. The pontil is quite small, at just under the size of a quarter. Reddish-orange glass on the interior, with the silvery-gray design over that, and a layer of clear glass over all. The outside has a bit of texture to it. I was not able to find this particular shape in the Loetz band 2 musterschnitte.

This decor has recently been added to the loetz.com decors page.

cool piece, i have one signed the same way- very heavy for its size. the metallic pattern is gray in some places and chrome in others but yours has mottling witch is unusual...even more unusual.

Hi Jericho, I knew you had one, or had sent photos out to the group a while back. I have only seen 3 in this decor, counting this one. Does your shape appear in the line drawings book? I have looked for this one, and found a similar shape but it was many years earlier than the probably production date of this. They may have just dredged up an older form and used it for this decor.

I have the new book, but it only covers Series II, not Series III, which this would fall under, as well as the Schaumglas pieces.

      Hi David
The Orange/white/brown within the pontil gives the appearance of the end-of-day pieces /Aus 237
... the colors could also head you toward Titania / Flamarion ....
... not sure if this is helpful ... Lovely piece

It is really interesting how they layered for various effects in this piece. looking at the main photos you just wouldn't guess the spatter would be part of the equation.
