Here is the second knife I found today. Another really nice one, opens easy, compact fits in hand and pocket. I think the blade says Schrade NY USA??? Does anyone know about this one? I didn't clean this one yet because I actually enjoy the tarnish on this one. Don't know why. Thanks for looking?

Great American made knife. This knife (OLD TIMER) was made to use, not to collect. Now collectible because the company closed its doors in 2004. I bought up every Schrade they had at a local Academy when I heard this news. I have around 30 Schrade knives that have never been touched be human hands in boxes. I will keep them as they will go up in value. Also have several very old Schrades that are more than 50 years old. I love Schrade. Now made over seaseas. Too bad.

I agree with fdm. great knives. Hope "overseas" doesn't mean China, Taiwan, India etc.! Why do good companies do that to their reputations?

love old timers -- keep one in my purse -- have had it for over 40 years -- which for me is a record -- as i usually manage to loose my tape measures or calculators

Maybe you could have them classified as "assault knives" & start a movement to ban their importation. Create more U.S. jobs & get the attention shifted away from banning "defense weapons".

naaaaaa -- they just get me on that one with the 9 inch hatpins already
    6. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 12 years ago
They have federal laws on the "legal" length of hat pins up there now? Watching your news, I often wonder if the right side won the Civil War?
    7. epson233 epson233, 12 years ago
what don't they have federal laws for -- the hatpin thing started on the east coast and in the south -- don't even go there with me on that one -- idiots on both sides of the fence -- location usually not the issue -- blame it on the apple tree - the apple usually doesn't fall too far from its source -- if you get my drift

"Assault hat-pins" now? Ban all hat-pins immediately & give criminal records to anybody possessing one!! Are you allowed to have "defense hat-pins"? Every news watching citizen should understand that when an army is on the offense, they are issued "assault weapons". When they are on the defense, - they have to turn in their "assault weapons" at the armoury and be issued "defense weapons"! The term, "assault weapon" is an invented term by you media for anti-defense propaganda. Why is the media the main pusher of taking Constitutional rights away from the citizens? Did you know that Conn. has a ban on "assault weapons" & see how well it worked! Sorry, I don't even live in your country & getting carried away & don't know the code for Conn.. Lets get back to knives before I really try to show the stupidity of the common citizen.

This knife you have was made in the mid 1960s, and the darkness of the metal on the blade suggests that it is carbon steel (a good thing). I wouldn't clean it either if you plan to keep it as a collector piece. I have had mine since I was 8 years old, now I'm 45. These are some of the best knives ever made in my opinion.

Kevin is right . Between 1947 up until 1972 0r 1973?? ...they would be marked Schrade Walden. I have several with this marking.

you can carry a hatpin if they have the nibs on the ends -- these are one of many of the old laws statewide that never got taken off the books -- so they are just total fader for some good butt jokes
