I picked up this Borroughs Additional Towel System but cannot find any information on the company or the value. The papers on the front advertise 1908 model electic washers and a stove. It has a push knob to dispense towels like it came from a restroom. Can anyone help me out with info and a value.
I STILL NEED HELP PUTTING A VALUE ON THIS. IF SOME COULD GIVE ME AN IDEA I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THE DATE HAS BEEN NARROWED DOWN TO FROM 1908 TO THE EARLY 1920's
Thanks
This is what I have found out on the Borroughs Towel System. The earliest Patent I could find was issued to Joseph N Borroughs of Oakland,CA on Oct 7 1924 patent number 1,510,648. It was for a towel dispensing device. Joseph hold about 7 patents on improvements to his towel system. In 1932 The company changed it name from Borroughs Towel Co to Oakland-California Towel Co. They were in business until 1967 under the name Oakland California Towel Supply Co.
Thank you very much, I was looking all over and couldn't find anything. Would you happen to have any idea what the value might be?
TomR, Not sure on the value, but it has everything going for it with the brass tags and mirror.
He was Joseph Borroughs, he would hand deliver towels by horse cart, he actually started up in 1902. His building was in Oakland 2828 Filbert. He serived the Northern Calif. area only so I would say finding another one would be hard. If I had this I would place 300.00-400.00 just for the decorative or folky look. Great piece for a rustic bathroom or kitchen. Nice!!Dave
