A old ivory boat Japanese or Chinese? I found this at the dump wrapped up in some cloth in a old blanket box. It's got some flags and beams but they tips have broke. I've seen some other ones of these boats in Different sizes but with no flags. It's a great piece, they are over 20 carved men on the boat and by the look of it it should have lots more flags and other fitting as its got alot more holes for others. At the back it had the moving lamps one is missing but the other one is fine.

Here's the thing about picking at the dump. If you take it home and decide you don't like it... they have an excellent return policy... lol...

What kind of ivory are you referring to? Does not show signs of old elephant ivory though.

I was just guessing that it was ivory,I'm no Expert but you sound like you know what you are taking about. What would you say it was made from?

Hiya Kevin, I've just had Another look at it and I can't see any Blood vessels,no dark marks,it looks like ivory to me. I've seen a couple of these before but in Different sizes. I like it what ever the Material is :)

On the bottom of the boat is pretty smooth with no Carving and you can tell its ivory. il take a photo and see what you guys think.
