Four gold coins I've found at the dump. I've got a lot of old coins and bank notes. I will put some more on here soon.

P/b, you almost have me talked into hanging around the dump but don't think I would find things like this is St. maarten.

At the dump? Hmmm. Chinese and Spanish gold at the dump?
Do they charge you to hunt there?
      Did you buy the rights?
      Can you buy rights?
      Mind boggling.

      More power to you!

I'm sure you could, there's goodies everywhere

I don't know, the only people I know of here that go near our dump are paid to take sh-t there & I avoid getting close. The lure of treasure is not that strong to me. Of course you have to remember where I live.

That's a shame. Where abouts is st. Maarten? I'm guessing somewhere in the us?
    6. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 12 years ago
P/b, I think I clk'd on reply when I answered your question & don't know where that went. St. Maarten is in the Caribbean, 100 mi. E. of St. Thomas, Tortola etc..We are between the Leeward & Windward island & referred to as the Wayward Islands.

I retrieved a box of record albums that was sitting by a dumpster one day. When I looked them up, there was one worth about 400.00 dollars!! People do throw out treasures sometime. Finding Gold is pretty unusual!! Great Find !! (:-D)

That's cool, I've found lots of records too. I've not done anything with them yet, just Stored them for now.

And for the gold, it isn't that Unusual, I Personally have found well over 600 gm and that's just me others at work find lots too. Some people just don't care what their are Throwing away.

I was looking at the last token on right. Isn't that a brass token used for gambling? I have several and thought they were brass. I can't read exactly what it says on the front and back.

It does look abit dull in the photo, il have to have Another look at it but I'm sure it's gold?
    11. Phatbuddha Phatbuddha, 12 years ago
I think they are Japanese tokens from 19th

      old token guinea......thats them.

'It is a game of money, a copy in brass of George III (King of England) gold coins. It was used as a chip in various card games and board games. It produced quite a few of them and spread to various countries.'

The token on the bottom right I am talking about.
    14. dempseycollector dempseycollector, 12 years ago
The Guineas of George III weighed 8.4 grams and were 24 millimetres in diameter, with an average gold content (at the time of the 1773 assay) of 0.9146. They were issued with six different obverses and three reverses in 1761, 1763-1779, 1781-1799, and 1813. All the obverses show right-facing busts of the king with the legend GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA with different portraits of the king. The reverse of guineas issued between 1761 and 1786 show a crowned shield bearing the arms of England+Scotland, France, Ireland and Hanover, with the legend M B F ET H REX F D B ET L D S R I A T ET E date. In 1787 a new design of reverse featuring a spade-shaped shield was introduced, with the same legend; this has become known as the Spade Guinea.

Wow. I need to start hanging out by dumps. Just one of those coins would help me and my family from being homeless next month. Man. You are lucky!

Sorry to hear that laney, and i wouldnt be suprised what you can find at the dump, but gold coins? I cant imagine how hard this person was looking but it must of been pretty hard to find something that small in a landfill, just kind of weird.
    17. Phatbuddha Phatbuddha, 12 years ago
Yeah sorry to hear that laney, I hope you and your family sort something out soon.

@ poop I don't work at a landfill,it's a rubbish dump for House clearances and Businesses. It's not food n waste like that.
