This piece was made by Hall China of East Liverpool, Ohio for Manning-Bowman - it was part of their "Cape Cod" Baker and Server, ca. 1936, and originally was intended to be placed at the center of a circular chrome tray. It is marked Manning-Bowman; however, I was able to confirm through a contact with the Hall China Collectors group that the bean pot was made for M-B by Hall.
The 1936 Manning-Bowman catalog described this set as: "may be placed directly in the oven, of course, and then inserted in the beautifully chromium plated server which accommodates breads, crackers, celery, and other essentials so handily on its flared edge." The complete set can be seen on page 111 of the book "Art Deco Chrome" by Jim Linz.
The bean pot is about 8" in diameter and is made of heavy vitrified china. It makes a great cookie jar, by the way. ;-)
