This is a relatively early piece by Zweifel, signed and dated March, 1982. Unlike much of his work from this era, instead of a dark amber base glass, clear glass was used. The swirling pulled iridescent bands are almost hypnotic in effect. This large vase or bottle stands 9 inches tall, and the bulbous portion is approximately 6 inches in diameter. The base is ground flat. A fine example of 1980s studio glass!

I used to collect his glass and had several pieces. Very original style, unlike anyone else. There's no mistaking his work.

Thanks guys, this is my fourth work by Zweifel. I like his style in the sense that he combines modern elements with aspects of nouveau/deco era works, such as iridescence, feathering, and shapes. I believe this shape shares some of the same inspiration as this much earlier Rindskopf piece... http://www.ebay.com/itm/SPECTACULAR-ART-NOUVEAU-RINDSKOPF-IRIDESCENT-ART-GLASS-VASE-LOETZ-BOHEMIAN-/360531088630?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53f153d4f6

what's the story on the vase that is under your posting name -- very pretty -- am particularly partial to peacocks -- looks like a real treasure -- hope you will share some info on it

Epson, that's one of my favorite items, but I'm not 100% certain of the attribution. I sent photos to Moser KArlsbad, but they said it was not their work. A glass collector friend told me she thinks it is by Goldberg, and had a photo from a book to back it up. The vase is a very heavy cobalt crystal with walls about 1/4" thick. It is cut, etched, enameled, and gilded. There are four panels with colorful birds... the peacock, a parrott, a hummingbird, and a bird of paradise. About 7" tall. I will post a write up under Bohemian.
