Fan from the Goodwill, $4.00 In wood box, Japan Maybe?

I saw this and picked it up and thought it was plastic box. I looked at the back and it was nice wood? I looked closer and it was wood, the frame, in fact there was a dovetail type corner connection! See 3rd photo. I think the fan is wood also and hand painted, also wall paper in background looks good, No idea how old, but not too old I think. I think Japan as they like cherry trees! It has a glass front. Great framing! I think Japan gave US Cherry trees by White House? I think I read that once? Thanks for looking, I am not a fan collector! Maybe I can put something in that box frame?
