This is a spoon made of coin silver by silversmith James Guthre. Very plain, sharp shoulders, and a little "stumpy" an overall decent example I would say. It is 5 3/4 inches long. 1/2 oz. or 14 grams. I think the issue with this spoon is that the proportions are a little awkward. For instance, the handle width is thicker than the bowl width making it look top heavy. To reinforce that even more, the tips are drastically different here. The middle or the stem is a egg timer type curve. Maybe I am being a little too critical, I am sure I couldn't do much better!!!
Jame Guthre was a silversmith in Willmington DE from 1822-1846. The monogra here reasd "HH". These were my grandmothers initials, thus giving this spoon some sentimental value.
Thank you enjoy!!!
