Masada, 1965, Silver 59mm. Silver medal is 115 gm, 935 fine., 1,814 minted. This is where 960 fighters and their families made their last stand against the Romans for several years following the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE. Before they committed suicide rather than being enslaved by the Romans, their leader Elazar Ben Yair proclaimed "We shall remain free men," and these words are inscribed on the medal.
Is this correct? Is this worth keeping?
Just realized mine has the number 7,166 on it. Does this mean its another mint of this coin? the weight is 41.4G give or take and size is a litle larger than a silver dollar.
