I found this at my local thrift shop; talked them down to a few bucks because of a chip at the bottom. I am stumped by this one. The only other Jasba vases I've seen or found online are lava style, none like this. Is it possibly a fake? The gold looks to be handpainted, I haven't tested it but I'd be comfortable saying it is painted gold. I'm not really into ceramics and such too much, but I just love the gold on cobalt blue.
Any info on this would be extremely appreciated, as this piece has peaked my interest quite a bit! Sorry for fuzzy pictures, still haven't invested in a decent camera : ( too busy buying collectables!

Update: I have an expert guess that this had been made during the fifties. Any extra insight still appreciated!

I have one like this, with some differences. It lacks the "porcelain" text on the underside, still insignia though. It also differ where the butterfly is. It stands at approx 16cm tall and is currently located in Sweden. It was passed down to me.

wow that looks pretty identical, Dezuel. Thank you for sharing pictures and story!! Mine is also around 16 cm. Do you know anything about where yours came from?

I am in North America, so perhaps the porcelain markings differ due to trade agreements/marks required for export

Well, from what I could gather from my grandmother is that this belonged to her parents. Though sadly she cannot remember exactly where they got it, only that it was long ago. My guess is that either from an auction or from a door-to-door salesman.

interesting, seems the design is older than I originally thought, I can't find anything on the company name, but I don't have too many ceramic reference books to look through. Thank you for sharing yours : )
