Even though we have a really nice collection of new, pretty, colorful Fiesta coffee mugs, I still use these for coffee. The first one with the patterns on it has what appears to be a nasty crack in it, but it doesn't leak, so... The other is a Tepco. It's your basic, boring, beautiful restaurant coffee mug. Both are super heavy (you could probably throw the Tepco through a plate glass window).
Hi Alfredo:
Don't know about lead, but it's true that the first Fiesta red had trace amounts of uranium in the glaze to give it that color, and that the uranium was removed in the 1940s. But it was removed because of the war effort, not for safety reasons. Later, new red glazes were applied without uranium. Common sense suggests that you should not store, say, tomato sauce in old glazed ware because the acids in the tomato eat away at the glaze, which could release whatever is in the glaze into your food. Other than that, enjoy it!
