Here's a scroll lug Bulova with the original matching scroll lug bracelet. 21 jewel 8AE movement in 14K gold filled case. Very accurate, it keeps great time for its age. I did some additional research after posting. It would appear to be a variant of the 1939 Bulova Engineer in rose gold. The dial face has been restored, and I believe the crystal has been replaced.
That is a gorgeous watch.
Thanks for the kind comments... Upon further research, it appears to be a 1939 Bulova Engineer variant... http://www.watchophilia.com/photogallery/bulovas-1930-1939/a1939-engineer/
Wonderful restoration, I love it! The bracelet looks brand new! Was that restored too? Congrats on a beautiful watch.
brunorob, it may have been, but there are some light rub marks on the back of the clasp. I got it on ebay about 5 years ago.
Fantastic watch and bracelet. Those great condition bracelets are harder to find than the actual watches sometimes....or usually. Great piece.
Oooh. I have never seen a watch quite like this. Wonderful!
Thanks to all for the comments & loves. I like to wear these old watches for special occasions, but at least once a month to keep them in good running order.
"I have a "Amercian Eagle" circa 1940 that has a similar "Butler Dial". Congrats on the matching Bracelet, that is the toughest part of restoring these old Bulova's.
On Dial Restoration; You realize that serious Collectors and some Auction Houses frown on re-painting, enamels and generally restoration of Dials. This one here looks fine but sometimes devalues the watch depending where you are selling it. I like the "Barnfind" syndrome where you need very little to restore. I need my old Boluva's to run well, that is what I require firstly. Then all the rest is icing on the cake.
-A Real Beauty!
Thanks JEV1A... I bought this one already restored, but of course anything in mint original condition is better than something in mint restored condition. I'm with you... the main thing is the accuracy, and that 21 jewel AAA Adjusted is a mighty fine movement!
Thanks for your reply. Yes indeed those 21J Movements starting around 1935 were real workhorses. Your 8AE is great, here is my 7AK 1939 American Eagle with similar Dial although this watch is completely un-restored condition.
