    LOUMANAL
    (436 items)

This little 4 3/4" (top of handle) IMARI Jug is stamped on the bottom with the mark of the KORANSHA Porcelain Company. This Japanese company was founded by the Fukagawa Family in 1875 in Arita Japan. KORANSHA stands for "The Company of The Scented Orchid" and this late 19th century (meiji period) Jug is a wonderful example of their wares. All of the blue on this Jug is underglaze and has flowed into the porcelain. It was then decorated with brilliant polychrome enamels of Prunus, Flowers, Leaves, rich gilding and refired. It was said that there was No Finer Imari than the items made by the FUKAGAWA Family. RER (LOUMANAL)

interesting. it does look like Imari, but it's not a Japanese form. so i assume made for the western market?

Thanks ho2cultcha! It is a very old porcelain jug and is a fine example of Imari.....possibly made for the Western/European market.
Thank you nsn300z for the comments and love. Bob
