I am not sure what this is even made out of. I think it may be some kind of stone that has some sort of marbling. The inside is very smooth but feels like it has been dug out. Probably makes no sense unless you can feel it yourself. Is about 8 inches across and maybe 3-4 inches deep. As always your ideas are appreciated. Not even sure what category to list it.
Thanks bellin. Looks a little African to me.
Thanks AmberRose, ho2cultcha, mrmajestic and blunderbuss. Anyone have any ideas what this might be?
It looks African to me too.
Thanks AmberRose. Maybe it's the zebra stripes:)
Definitely not stone, the marbling is too regular and it doesn't go all the way through. On the bottom you can see that it was the hand of man that created the stripes, can't you see?
Thanks Stillwater. The stripes are painted, the material it's made from has a lighter shade of gray thru it like marbling.
I forgot to add I can see just fine for an old woman.
Thanks Mrsar8jason
I once owned a black panther figurine which was hand carved in Kenya out of natural stone. They use agates, marble and granite. Laborious work. It is beautiful!
thanks maryh1956. Have a good day.
Thought is send this back to see if anyone has any ideas.
Still think African :))
Me too. Hi Eye, how's your day going? I'm off to try to get some multiflora roses out of my tree line.
Nldionne, I found a piece of Rosemeade this week. Never seen it before. It's fab
Are you going to post?
Wasn't going to. Been lazy with it swan planter that looks like Rookwood or Roseville.
I'll have to send the pottery boys out if you keep buying up all that pottery:)
Ha, it's true!
Not sgraffito, thin line of paint, can't even feel it.
Thanks Moon and Ho2cultcha.
No I promise:) Good Morning!
Not sure if you are aware that I tend to find very obscure objects:)
Why collect something everyone else has:)
Today is Roseville day at Zanesville auction. They have a lot if Weller too. Some Mccoy that I have been looking for. You should be safe except for the three vase marked misc.....
