A free sample bottle of Dill's Cough Syrup with Box and syrup. I believe that this particular bottle is from the 1890-1900 time frame.
I purchased this particular item at an outdoor flea market at the time of day when the vendors were hot, tired and ready to pack it up to go home. I ask the guy how much he wanted. There was a good size crowd around his stall.
Vendor: I would take $20.00
Myself: Being that this item was originally free, that's quite a profit don't you think?
Vendor: Point taken, I will go $10.00
Myself: I will give you $3
Vendor (exasperated) $3! Are you kidding me? It still has the medicine in it!!
Myself: But I don't have a cough...
Vendor: Give me the $3 and go. Please....
Fun memory.

You are right mustangtony, I had not thought of that.
There would have been touchlamps, clappers, Muzak does Led Zepplin cassettes and LP versions of "Zanfir, Master of the Pan Flute" for all!
I could have been a hero...=-)
