This is a pretty awesome trunk! I'm guessing it is from about the turn of the century. I am not an expert on old trunks though. Oak runners are in pretty nice shape for its age. It still has its storage compartments too. I usually sell these trunks like this for $100-$150. But this one is marked Sterling which throws me off. I have not seen one of these. I cannot find any info on the web regarding this manufacturer either. Is this a rare piece that maybe I should keep, or does have any idea of value or where it came from? Thanks people!
It is really cool to have a makers label but on this type of trunk it does not change the value much.
Thanks Trunkman! A name like Sterling made me think that it may be something a little more valuable, than the others I have come across. It does have a great look though!
I love the label and the look of the trunk too. I would have thought that a label may bump up the value a little as well -- but it seems to make more of a difference when it is a better know maker and a bit higher quality trunk. (so many people who have these trunks would love to know who made it so it is an added bonus) A Taylor trunk label, or a Martin Maier label for example clearly make a difference -- but these makers also had higher quality products so go figure...
