To all you Breweriana collectors, please help! I have come across this unique and vintage piece and would appreciate any help that can be offered on this item. I've heard varying stories and I'm trying to get a consensus as to what it is. Its fairly large and somewhat heavy. The barrel appears to hold liquid and comes out the tap handle and into the porcelain mug which circulates via a pump housed in the bottom portion. I have posted a picture of the original tag on the rear as well as some of the engraved lettering to the top of the keg. I have dated the vintage to the early 50's to coincide with the 100 millionth barrel milestone. Additionally, I can be reached via airbaud@att.blackberry.net if there are any pictures or questions that you wish to forward. Many thanks in advance for your help!
So it's like a pond pump inside that keeps the liquid circulating?
yes, I believe that's an accurate assessment. Are you familiar with this piece?
No, but it is a show piece. I don't think Pabst made very many of them.
when you say "show piece" what exactly are you referring to?
IMO, I beleve this was made for distributors to celebrate the 100 Millionth Barrel of Pabst. I don't beleve it contaned beer. Hence the word show piece!
