The hallmarks are looks like a.. lions head... 614 .. stick dog & anchor & letter B funny looking B & stearling picked it up at a garage sale for a 1.00 need help ID ing it need the age and where and when it was made, and the patten of the glass also.thank you all for helping. The 3 hallmards in picture 4 are the dog anchor and letter B on the other side is the lions head and 614. (total 6 hallmarks)need to know the age of this yes its a lions head I checked now the sticked dog and letter B and 614 what doe it mean.
If you can get a better shot of the mark it would help. The anchor suggests England Birmingham but there are some other discordant ideas. Maybe the bee is a leopard's head? Not a bad pick at all for a buck!
I those are exactly the marks, the dog is a lion and the UK sterling mark for 925 silver, the Anchor is the city mark for Birmingham and the letter is a gothic G is the year 1830. I don't know about a lions head but a leopards head is London and it can't be made in London and Birmingham. We usually think of shaft and globe decanters as Victorian, but yours is Regency when it would have been a rare shape. The palmate pattern on the silver is a classic Regency pattern, and the top is very reminiscent of Brighton Pavilion from that period. The hallmark and style go together, the top and decanter go together because of the chain and glass loop. I think you have done very well for a dollar. Don't tell the people you bought it from.
I thing I recive a good answer form somebody who knows there antiques,Thank you very much.
But why 6 hallmarks, it says stearling, lions or leopards head ,614 then the other 3 lion, anchor letter G, this is what got me stummped
