I bought this at an antique auction recently along with several other coolectable paperweights. Someone left a bid on it along with another pld pershire paperweight so I assume they knew it was worth something. I've never seen one like it. As you can tell from the pic's it doesn't have a glossy finish. The only marking on it is a teardrop shaped glossy marking about half way down, in the middle green stripe. It doesn't show real well in the pic but in person it is very distinct. Anyone have any ideas on what it might be?
I did not check past posts because I didnt know what to search for.
I think this is italian mid century. 1950-1970's
I WANT THIS! Beautiful piece!
Probably Murano.
Wow! This is just stunning!!!
Love it with all my heart, I just posted an almost identical paperweight and I know nothing of it either. You have excellent taste if I do say so myself!
I collect these!
Murano- Rainbow Bulbous satin glass and I believe from the 1920's.
The Google search should show salt shakers (extremely rare) I own one pair of shakers and only 2 pair were known to exist. They are on the cover of the salt collector guide book. They look just like your paperweight. I own several of this same paperweight and I just love them. I have seen cruets, a dove, oil lamp, paperweights and a toothpick holder in this glass.
The paperweights are (not rare) but can be found on Ebay often for around $50.
They usually measure just under 3".
