This is found on farmlands in the Netherlands.
Anyone any idea what the image says? I cannot read the text unfortunately.
On the left side you see a (holy) man with a long cross, a tree in the middle and a kneeling boy.

Here is what I want to mention about the buton and the other excavations.
There are a lot of excavations done in the northern part of The Netherlands and so this is one of them. This coin or button in any case has no text in the Dutch language. It reminds me of a Latin text although I can't decode. To know the questions must be submitted to an archaeological expert and that I am not. I can, if desired, searching an email address where you can submit your questions for this expert dear Hansel?
I visited a lot of time this region of North Netherlands and also know to tell about some a.o. about the history of the Borg (castle) Verhilderum. The history of this dates from about the 15 and 16th century. So in my opinion the jewelry you showd on this site could be from that time, in any case they are pretty old. I can publish, if you would like, some of the history on this site.
Please let me know your reaction/anwer!
I cannot help on the text/ front design, but I can tell you that it doesn't have a great deal of age.
The area where the shank attached is very telling. It shows that the shank (silver loop) attached through a hole in the brass (??) back and sat in a hollow cavity. Based on this construction I would say it is Mid 20th century at the earliest.

@Scott, Thanks for your views!! I dont think it is really old either tbh. But also the back is made of gold, just hasn't been cleaned. My fingers hurt from all the cleaning recently. But it was not as dirty as the other items. I will show it at the Groningen University museum. Maybe they can decipher it. I will get back on this matter asap! Thank you ALL.

Hansel, thanks for your message. To be honest I find your question to me a little strange. I see you lives near the locations of the finding place of the jewelry and button in Groningen. I'm always willing to help somebody to determine the origin and age of jewelry etc. (my specialty)if I can. But in your case it's something else because you have excellent opportunity to investigate this yourself. It seems to me that you are better able to establish contacts in your own environment to determine and detect the origin of your findings. To contact an expert to sort out for someone who do not speak our language is, of course, an impossible task. But given that you are a resident of our beautiful country you will easily be able to find one yourself. Good luck!
I have my reasons for that. Main one is my personal privacy & safety. I keep all of my items at home. Second, I like it here.. And since this site is the first one I posted stuff and got succesfull and superfriendly responses I prefer to stick with it. next to the books I borrowed from the library.
I have the same doubts as you concerning my personal pricacy & safety. I always want to help collectors here in matters I probably know as they do for me. I live in the same country as you but that does not mean that you can do your own research. Except of course that there are things that better not can be published.
