This is a brooch which is made of a closure/clasp (still visible) of a bible or church book. It dates from the Empire (1815-1840) and has two hallmarks. One is a Dutch silver quality mark of the so called 2nd order Silver (8.35) the other label I can not detect but obvious from the maker.
What strikes me is that it is alsolooks like a modern brooch might be because the style is simple as often in modern times.
The brooch is quite large almost 11 x 3 cm (4.3 x 1.2 ") and has a so called c-clasp and a saftely pin which I have often come across at jewelry of that time period.
All in all a nice brooch but also shown that a silver piece of jewelry can also be very beautiful. I would appreciate your opinion?
