THIS MEDAL WAS IN AN END LOT BOX I PICKED UP AT AUCTION THIS WEEK. IT IS DATED 1904. I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH MEDALS AND THE LIKE BUT FOUND IT INTERESTING. IT IS MARKED ON THE BACK SCHWAAB S&S CO. MILWAUKEE.
Your pinback was a souvenir of the 1904 National Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic, that was held in Boston MA.
The organization was founded soon after the War-- this was the 38th National Encampment.
The organization had a lot of political clout through the end of the 19th century.
